Tracking Aspergillus flavus toxigenic strain AF 11- 4 in groundnut crop soils using SCAR marker based PCR diagnostic assay
Duration: 10/Jul/2012 - 09/Jul/2015

The project aims to design a strain specific sequence-characterized amplified region marker (SCAR) for precise identification of AF 11-4, a stable aflatoxin producer and commonly found in groundnut growing crop soils, and to track its population dynamics. Once we have a specific marker to AF 11-4 strain, we will be able to see the performance of breeding material under various levels of A. flavus toxigenic strain population load. Further it helps to track the populations in important groundnut growing regions of India. Keeping all this in view, the project will further improve groundnut resistance breeding against aflatoxin contamination.
