Enhancing productivity and competitiveness of groundnut-based cropping systems in Malawi by developing and deploying labor saving and drudgery reducing technologies in the groundnut value chain
Duration: 01/Jun/2015 - 30/Nov/2017
Locations: Eastern and Southern Africa / Malawi
Project contact: Dr Takuji W Tsusaka (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Donor: Foundation or Trust,McKnight Foundation-USA
CGIAR Research Program: Grain Legumes
The objectives of this project are to test scaling up models for smallholders to access and benefit from technologies developed by the project. Pilot studies will be conducted for scaling up access to pre- and post-harvest groundnut technologies to improve labor-use efficiency in the value chains in target areas of Malawi. Evidence and facts to inform technology R4D processes via social and market studies in Malawi and Mozambique will be generated. Additional equipment for the groundnut value chain (winnower, sorter, peanut butter makers and oil press ) will be developed and readied for scaling up and out.
