The overall goal of the project is to reduce the cost of chickpea cultivation and increase farmers income by developing cultivars suited to mechanical harvesting and tolerant to herbicides. It is aimed at developing chickpea cultivars suited to mechanical harvesting; modifying/adjusting combine harvesters to customize them for chickpea harvesting; and developing chickpea cultivars tolerant to herbicides.
