The specific objectives of the object are to: 1. Develop a web-GIS database and mapping of salt prone areas in KRIP using remote sensing/GIS techniques. 2. Assess the effectiveness of conventional and other remediation techniques for controlling salinity/sodicity in the affected areas. 3. Monitor groundwater level fluctuations and quality and relate such to salinity and sodicity built up in the scheme 4. Pilot test and disseminate heat, salt, pest and disease rice and tomato varieties tolerant to salinity/sodicity soils 5. Promote integrated soil fertility management practices in the salt affected areas 6. Assess the community perception and WUA operations and maintenance of irrigation facilities vis-Ã -vis salinity and sodicity problem in the scheme 7. Build capacity of smallholder farmers and water managers
