ECRIMS takes a systems-based approach to resilience, building absorptive, adaptive and transformative capacities at individual, household, and community levels, whilst gender transformative and youth focused approaches foster increased inclusivity at all levels. ECRIMS strengthens the wider market ecosystem including governance structures and private sector actors such that the market system itself is resilient to shocks and stresses as well as the households and communities whose food and income security depend upon it. Sustainability is ensured by embedding activities within existing community structures, supported by resident Community Based Organisations and strengthened by proactive participation of women and youth at all levels.
