The project envisages to commercialize the new high oil and high oleic groundnut varieties as a short-term goal, and populate the groundnut breeding pipeline with high oleic lines and segregating populations on long term basis. Genomic tools, robust phenotyping with NIRS (near infrared reflectance spectroscopy), target site testing to select the best allele combinations, and multi-location testing will be employed to enhance the genetic gain for target traits.
