Sustainable water management through integrated watershed management in Gulbarga District, Karnataka
Duration: 01/Jan/2017 - 31/Mar/2017
Locations: Asia / India / Karnataka
Project contact: Dr S P Wani (S.WANI@CGIAR.ORG)
Donor: Private industry
CGIAR Research Program: Water Land and Ecosystems
A simulation model will be set up for computing the current landscape hydrology. Large watersheds will be divided into smaller units based on stream network, soil, and land use information. Water balance components of targeted sites will be estimated. Long term simulation will be made to capture all weather generated variability and runoff yield will be estimated at different segments of the village/block. Probability analysis will be done and water harvesting thresholds will be decided and accordingly suitable sites for water harvesting will be identified.
