ICRISAT will contribute to choice of the sorghum germplasm, mapping populations and breeding lines to be genotyped in this project, and will implement collection of DNA samples of these. ICRISAT will also develop a low-cost, high throughput DNA sampling protocol for sorghum that provides template DNA in the quantity and quality required for sequencing, for less than USD 1 per sample. ICRISAT will also coordinate with and communicate the results of this project to public sector and private sector sorghum breeding programs globally that target Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia
