Overall the MSU guidelines developed under the SIAC 2.1 Project will be followed for implementation of the regional expert elicitations to be conducted at different locations. Special efforts will be undertaken in case of lentils to resolve the issue of mixtures (group of improved cultivar seeds) used at different regions in these two states. At each lentil regional expert elicitation, a seed sample (20-25 seeds) of top five cultivars preferred by farmers (in that geography) will be collected from respective experts/progressive farmers. Thus, a total of 35 seed samples from seven regional expert elicitations on lentil will be collected. Similarly, another 35 seed samples will be collected directly from farmers through field reconnaissance survey from the two states.
