The project builds on the mutual strength of several decades of sorghum improvement experience at ICRISAT and national partners in Karnataka; and would strengthen the research capacities of UAS-Dharwad and UAS-Raichur in the area of utilizing the modern breeding tools for genetic diversification of rabi sorghums, and thus improving productivity of rabi sorghum. This will enhance the economic benefit to the poor farmers Karnataka playing significant role in improving the livelihoods of farming families.
